Poppy Playtime Chapter 1 delivers an introduction to the abandoned Playtime Co. factory. The atmosphere is thick with dread, amplified by effective sound design and horrifying visuals. Exploring the factory is really creepy, and the puzzles, while simple, add to the tension. Huggy Wuggy, the main antagonist, is a terrifying presence, and his appearances are very startling.
The game's short length leaves you wanting more, but the initial experience is memorable. While the story is small, the focus on atmosphere and jump scares makes for a thrilling, if brief, playthrough. The game focuses mainly on making it seem like you would get jumpscared by building up on the tension, making you fear walking through the corridors and with the addition of the grabpack as a fun and useful device that can be used throughout the game. I highly recommend you play it, and the other games in this franchise.
